The property's rich history spans nearly 100 years – it’s been a disco, a popular wedding spot for locals and out-of-towners, and was even a stop along a prohibition-era rum running route. Local fisherman’s dinners were hosted here before Montauk found its way onto any tourism map, and over the years, generations of seasonal workers have stayed in the property’s rustic cabins. Now completely refurbished summer rentals, the breezy cabins feature flat screen televisions and wireless internet access, with walls and floors refinished in crisp white knotty pine.

Second House Tavern, the 2008 reincarnation of one of Montauk’s oldest restaurants, has been an instant hit with locals and out-of-towners since our opening. We took a building with 100 years of history, and gave it a facelift – adding an all-star chef and an energetic team to guide you through your next catered event or family dinner.

At Second House, we’re passionate about the things that matter – food, drink, and providing a place for our guests to kick back and have a good time. Whether you’re in the mood for a cold pint of Bass Ale and a Black Angus burger in our Grill Room, or a three-course dinner with family and friends in the Tavern, we’re here to make your stay with us as comfortable as possible.

Here, our short ribs are “braised the right way,” and our meats are always all natural and hormone-free. We utilize only the freshest, quality ingredients in simple, flavorful preparations.

“We’re getting back to the fundamentals of cooking,” Executive Chef Jeremy Blutstein said of the Tavern’s new-American bistro fare. With herbs picked fresh from our garden, and daily specials including seafood right off the Montauk docks, our menu is warm, hearty and satisfying.
